Scotland starts in Dumfries and Galloway a beautiful rural area of South Scotland. From wild forests and rocky shorelines and sandy beaches there is a huge variety to see and do.

 

If you have a thirst for adventure, you can enjoy some of Scotland’s best mountain bike trails, home to the 7Stanes with Dalbeattie, Mabie and Forest of Ae in the area.

Serious walkers can enjoy the 212 mile Southern Upland Way, a coast to coast route from Portpatrick in the West to Cockburnspath in the East. For something more leisurely take a stroll along the River Nith.

Learn about Scottish art and culture on the Dumfries Art Trail or visit the former home of Robert Burn, Ellisland Farm, one of the leading attractions in Dumfries dedicated to Scotland’s national poet.

Soak up Scotland’s history at one of the majestic castles such as Drumlanrig or Threave or explore the magnificent Caerlaverock Castle and national nature reserve, a haven for migrating birds.

Whisky lovers can visit the Annandale Distillery while the whole family can enjoy the delights of nearby Drumuir Ice Cream shop. Kedar Pantry or Loch Arthur Farm Shop are all within easy driving distance.
